Ken Bonham passed away

Post by Rick Campbell »

Some of you will remember Ken from the Smokey Mountain Steel Shows in Knoxville. He worked with Johnny Paycheck. Red Sovine, Martha Carson, etc... Played on a lot of sessions. I have played a monthly gig with him as a band member for the past several years, and many other shows and sessions throughout the years. Ken was a master of the traditional country lead guitar in the styles like Grady Martin, Jimmy Capps, Hank Garland, etc..... the list could go on and on, but you understand the kind of guitar made famous on the Grand Ole Opry and the tasteful backup licks that brought out the very best in a singers performance. Ken was a wonderful person, a mentor to me, as well as a close friend. RIP
