David Waters

Post by Tommy Detamore »

I am sad to report that David Waters passed away last night. David was the long-time guitarist for Billy Mata and The Texas Tradition, as well as April and Jason Hall. He was a great player, a wonderful guy with a terrific sense of humor, and a steel player’s best friend. You will be missed by so many David. R.I.P.

OH I'm so sorry to hear this. Me and David have picked the stage together years ago....he was always such an inspiration to me musically. What a treasure he was here and what a blessing of a Spirit where he is now.
RIP David.

In the time I spent playing in Billy Mata’s band I was lucky to get to know David very well. He had a knack for making me laugh, especially when I really needed to. I learned so much about music from David, his knowledge of chords, jazz standards, Western swing licks, etc. had a profound effect on my own musicianship, and he was always more than happy to share his knowledge. He was truly one of a kind, and he will be sorely missed.

David, there is so much that can be said about him and yet you wouldn't touch the essence of the man. Kind gentleman, super guitar player, never met a stranger, fast to make friends, ect....
David will be missed by many.
Love you brother, God's speed.
