Out West Country - Wayne Brown

Post by David W.D. McCormick »

Just want to give a big shout out to Wayne at Out West Country! He overhauled my Carter - added a pedal, re-rodding it the way God intended, and upgraded the knee lever mechanism with custom machined parts. She's playing smoother than ever, and so clean I could eat off the undercarriage. Would strongly recommend Wayne to anyone who needs maintenance work, tech support, or parts - especially if you are in Canada.

I agree with you David. Wayne is my "go-to" man as well. No matter the problem, no matter the make, Wayne at Out West Country will resolve the issue. Thanks for giving him the shout-out of recognition. Dwayne

I have used the “Steel Guru” (Wayne Brown) for a number projects “One” he made a fantastic custom amp for me. Wayne doesn’t just work on Steels, he builds them from the ground up.. He reworked my “Show-Pro then gave me a custom fit (pedals etc)and man does it feel great to play..

Wayne is the man….

I appreciate what you guys have shared, and it seems fitting that this is my first post as a new steeler. I bought a '92 Mullen D10 from Wayne Brown in August 2024. I replied to his online ad and he welcomed me to give him a call about the Mullen, which I did. I think we talked for an hour about all things pedal steel. Wayne was super patient, knowledgeable, and answered all my rookie questions; at one point, as I apologized for taking so much of his time, he nicely interjected and said: "Ryan, Ryan... if you are talking steel, you can call me anytime." Based on that exchange I arranged to leave next day or so for his shop--12 hours west of me. When I arrived and laid eyes on the Mullen he had just finished completely restoring, I was impressed by the high quality finish and condition of the instrument. Like a lot of you, I own several old instruments and feel I am familiar with the "look and feel" of corroded and brittle parts, as well as cloudy and checked finishes, etc. The Mullen was in tip-top shape and Wayne spent a lot of time going over things with me. I also bought one of their excellent custom seats and a Goodrich volume pedal. He filled me in that he was retooling his shop and expanding his distribution capacity, which I have come to learn is crucial, especially here in Canada where steel sales, parts and service seem to be scarce. While I am not an experienced steeler, hopefully there's something of value here for others. Big thanks to Wayne and OWC!

I Thank all you guys for the kind words. The truth is.... I love steel guitars and I love talking steels with people. If I can help or teach someone about our beloved instrument, LOL then yes I like making their head explode. It is fun to watch. They get so excited. :D My shop and phone are always open
