anyone ever make a dedicated s10 C6 steel?
The more I get into the C6 neck, I start to think about how nice it would be to have a dedicated s10 C6 6x5. I've got enough S10 E9th guitars between my ETS and my "on order" Sho-bud maverick II. But man it would be nice to have a dedicated C6 neck for jazz and jazz standards.

I believe Sho-Bud had an S10 5p at one point in the 70s.

Re: anyone ever make a dedicated s10 C6 steel?
I thought about switching my EMCI S10 over and got some very good copendant suggestions here:

But in the end, after a lot of thought, I decided that I know my personality well enough and will get sucked into C6 and will then obsessively NEED TO HAVE an E9/C6 convertible 12 string from Excel or Shoji so I've decided to eventually sell the EMCI and buy one of those as my next steel

I know of an Excel S10 that was made for C6. It might have been a special order, though.

Actually when we start production eary next year we were looking into a S-10 C6th Pedal Steel Guitar. However the must be enough interest to warrant that.

I'm intrigued Wayne. Are you starting a new pedal steel company? Right now I have emails out to Williams and Toshiiyuki about building me a C6 S10 6x5. Tell me more?

Yes we are Bill, most of the raw stock has been purchased already and i am in conversations with some of Canada's top Pedal Steel Guitar player's. With there input we are in the process of designing a few different models of guitars from entry pro model light weight S-10's to some SD-10's to some High end works of Art.
thats all i am prepared to say at this time lol

I believe many (maybe all) of the current builders would gladly make you a C6 guitar with however many pedals and knee levers you want. The basic guitar is the same mo matter which tuning.
Carter D10 8p/7k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup, Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112, Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open G slide and regular G tuning guitar) .
Playing for 55 years and still counting.

At this point I've heard back from both Toshi and Bill at Williams. Now I have to make a decision.

Re: anyone ever make a dedicated s10 C6 steel?
Sure: here is what I compared.
1. Williams lead time is 8 months. Toshi's lead time was 5 months. Not really much of a difference.
2. Price was comparable. Both around $4k plus change. Toshi also had shipping costs and possible unforeseen tariff costs. Less unknowns with Williams, so that gave williams the edge
3. Parts: Parts are easy to come by with a williams and legs and rods are standardized. In japan they use the metric system so things like legs and parts would need to be custom ordered from a single supplier in Japan.
4. Communication. While Toshi is very good with communication, we aren't in the same time zone and Bill is a quick phone call away.
5. Given the choice, all other things being equal, I prefer buying from an American manufacturer.
Here is what I ordered:
S10 6x5
Aluminum Neck
Keyless
Black, no trim, no inlay
Red/White Fretboard
SteelTronics Single Coil Pickup
Legs and rods 1” under standard
Wheeled case

The late Harry Hess had an s-10 (I think it was just 10 strings) C6 Fessenden.
