Danny Sneed in the Pat James Band

Post by Rick Schmidt »

Here's a steel guitar hero of mine... Danny Sneed... at a gig we play every weekend at the "Buffalo Chip" in Cave Creek AZ.
Danny-steel, Pat James-guitar, fiddle, and vocals, Craig Delphia- fiddle and 5 string electric mandolin, Count Erb- Drums, and me on bass. (yes, I still play steel, but LOVE that I get to play a supporting role for so many of my favorite players!) :)

Country music is alive and well in AZ!

Well organized band and very tight group. I just have to get over there to see my long time buddy Danny Sneed.
Thanks for posting it Rick.

I'm always excited when I hear a band playing real country music with fiddles and steel. Good picking and singing.

Good stuff... Danny is spot on, and the whole band is in time, in tune. :-)

Anyone know what Danny is using for pickups on his Fessy steel?

Now that's what country music is supposed to sound like. I've always liked Danny's playing.

I'm glad you bumped this one up, I missed it first time around. Musta been out of town and distracted. This is great. Danny and the whole band.

Looking at the guitar around this point in The Kind of Love I Can't Forget - https://youtu.be/wmTp9-km2rw?t=167 - those look like bar magnets and black (not chrome) surrounds. So I would say they are modern Lawrence 705 pickups - current production. I have one on my Mullen G2 and I really like it.

That was fabulous Rick! I would like to see more of Dannys bedroom sesssions with where he gets really creative.

What a fine player Danny Sneed is! Thanks for the links, Rick.

PS: I had one Fessenden and I couldn't make friends with it. It clearly wasn't the guitar's fault, if these clips are anything to go by. :)
